Sanjana- Great Transformation From A Patient To A Care Coordinator
Sanjana’s narrative, which starts with a life-saving procedure and ends with a fulfilling career at Narayana Health, is one of optimism, resiliency, and a full-circle moment spanning more than two decades.
Sanjana was born on October 6, 1988, in Purulia, West Bengal. Her early life was characterized by alarming symptoms. She had blue nails, a sensitivity to cold, and dyspnea at the age of three. Her family was given the reassurance by the local doctor that the hole in her heart might heal itself as she grew older.
The symptoms did not go away, though. Sanjana went through a terrifying incident of losing consciousness at school when she was ten years old. Her condition was reevaluated in response to this concerning episode.
Her family participated in the Narayana Hospital RN Tagore Hospital’s 1998 Bhoomi Pooja celebration, which marked the completion of the hospital’s first structure. Sanjana was evaluated by renowned cardiac surgeon and founder of Narayana Health Dr. Devi Shetty during a free heart check-up camp held at the location, and it was determined that the hole had gotten bigger rather than less. To fix the problem, he suggested an urgent open heart surgery.
Dr. Shetty carried out the crucial procedure on June 26, 1999. Sanjana was given a fresh lease on life after a successful surgery made possible by his skill and loving care. She grew up strong and well over the years, always recalling Dr. Shetty’s generosity and ability to save lives.
Sanjana’s health improved, so she decided to go back to school and finish her master’s degree in 2012. After putting in a lot of effort and dedication, she was able to join Narayana Health Kolkata in June 2012—the same organization whose founder, Dr. Shetty, had given her a second chance at life. Similar to what she once needed, her job entails helping heart patients who travel from far away and scheduling their meetings with the cardiac doctor.
For more than 20 years, Bengalis have considered the Narayana Health Kolkata Cluster to be an essential part of their life. With its commitment to providing Bengalis with top-notch healthcare, this network of hospitals has grown to become an integral part of the community.
Sanjana’s transformation from a young heart patient to a sympathetic OPD patient coordinator at Narayana Health Kolkata is evidence of the long-lasting relationship between patients and caregivers as well as the significant influence of high-quality healthcare. Her narrative is a ray of hope and inspiration, showing how deeds of wisdom and kindness may change people’s lives and spread kindness and healing.
Sanjana upholds the values of compassion, commitment, and quality in healthcare via her work, carrying on the heritage of Dr. Shetty and Narayana Health. She makes a difference in the lives of those she serves by bringing her personal experience of perseverance and gratitude to her work as she continues to support and mentor patients at Narayana Health Kolkata.
