As the Founder and Chairman of Sorin Investment Fund, Mr. Sanjay Nayar, a prominent figure in the world financial markets, has assumed the role of President of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM). After Mr. Ajay Singh’s term at the Chamber ends, Mr. Nayar, who has a great deal of experience in international finance, takes his position.

Before retiring last year, Mr. Nayar worked for roughly 14 years at KKR and 25 years at Citi, giving him a total of 40 years of experience in the global financial and capital markets.

Following his departure from Citigroup in 2009, he launched KKR India. Sanjay oversaw investments at KKR totaling over USD 14 billion in real estate, infrastructure, credit, and private equity, with the latter having the greatest valuation at almost USD 10 billion.

Throughout his 25 years at Citigroup, Sanjay had a variety of top leadership roles in the UK, the USA, and India. In addition to being a member of Citigroup’s Asia Executive Operating Committee and Global Management Committee, he oversaw the company’s operations in India and South Asia as CEO.

At the cutting-edge e-commerce business NYKAA, which he and his wife Falguni Nayar created, he holds the position of Non-Executive Director. In addition to serving on the National Startup Advisory Council, Sanjay was recently appointed as a non-official member of the Government of India’s Board of Trade, where he represents the private sector. In addition, he is the Chairman of Grameen Impact Investments India (GIII), a member of the Governing Board of the Indian School of Business (ISB), a member of the Advisory Board of Habitat for Humanity, and the Founder and Board Member of the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP).

 ASSOCHAM will make use of Sanjay’s network and experience in the upcoming year to help the MSME sector thrive, particularly in the area of using cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence. The four pillars of empowerment, digitization, entrepreneurship, and sustainability have been the focus of the chamber’s intense efforts. He declared that the chamber would endeavor to fulfill its declared goal of India being a developed nation within the next twenty years.
