Punit Balana’s “Utsav” collection debut at Lakmé Fashion Week in collaboration with FDCI was an ode to Rajasthan. For a multi-seasonal “Utsav,” timeless designs came in surkhlaal, gulaabi, gulaal, and pickle green.

Punit used a variety of creative techniques to accentuate the textures in his collection that was influenced by the Kalbelia people in Rajasthan. The ensembles began with prints and crafts like Marodi, resham, Taffeta, mirror, and coin work, then switched to block prints and Bandhani for an additional traditional touch.

The clothing line progressed smoothly through selections for men and women that will be perfect for the upcoming celebrations. Women’s clothing featured striking lehengas with peplum blouses that will make an interesting addition to the wardrobes for holiday occasions.

To reflect the festive tone of the theme, the kurtas for males were heavily embroidered.

Gorgeous Sara Ali Khan closed the show, making a dramatic entry in a stunning crimson lehenga/choli set adorned with butties and a thickly embroidered dupatta.

“This was my first time walking at Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI, and it has been a great experience. Punit created something for me that was both traditional and modern, youthful but ethnic, and very me. I had a terrific time being Punit’s star performer, and it was undoubtedly one unforgettable event” said Sara Ali Khan.

When men and women choose the pieces from Punit Balana’s “Utsav” collection, it is a stunning exhibition of sartorial splendor.
