The renowned actor, screenwriter, and director Mr. Saurabh Shukla took centre stage at the annual flagship event, The Heritage Academy Film Festival, which was organised by the Department of Media Science, The Heritage Academy, Kolkata, as part of Media Mosaic 2025. The event was a spectacular evening of cinematic brilliance.

Renowned filmmaker Mr. Judhajit Sarkar joined Mr. Shukla for an enlightening discussion titled “Films and Beyond”, which enthralled media students, faculty, and movie buffs. The conversation covered topics such as the dynamic development of storytelling in Indian cinema, the interaction between platforms and content, and the current difficulties and realities of the entertainment sector.

As Mr. Shukla related uncommon stories from his career, such as his involvement in groundbreaking films like Satya, Barfi!, Jolly LLB, PK, and Lage Raho Munna Bhai, the auditorium was alive with excitement. He stressed the value of authenticity, tenacity, and maintaining a craft-based perspective while urging students to discover their voice in a crowded media landscape.

Now in its eighth year, the Heritage Academy Film Festival has solidified its position as one of the most anticipated media and communication festivals organised by a reputable academic institution in Kolkata’s event calendar. Every year, the department aims to bring together the best minds in digital media, public relations, advertising, filmmaking, and journalism to work together on competitive events. Several colleges across Kolkata participated in the Film Festival, including Techno India, UEM, Heritage Institute of Technology, Heritage Law College, The Heritage College, The Bhawanipur Education Society, St. Xaviers College, Asutosh College, Sister Nivedita University, and many more.
