In the august presence of debutant director Ritama Ghosh, producer duo Debarati Banerjee and Saumitra Sengupta, Sudeshna Ray, Ranajit Dey, Bappaditya Mukherjee and Shree Ghatak, the screening of the short film Interlude was organized at Oxford Bookstore, Kolkata.
The short film Interlude is the story about the complexities of a relationship of a gay couple. It also showcases the relationship of a gay partner with his grandmother.
Ritama Ghosh was assistant director for Sindur Khela, a project by Times of India. Her documentary Quest: Their Journey also received great praise. She has also secured a place in New York Film Academy to pursue higher studies in film direction.
Sudeshna Ray plays the grandmother of the gay partner. “I play a grandmother in the film. She is hard from outside and soft inside. She is just like a coconut. In many ways, she is like me. Many people are afraid of me and the director wanted that aspect of me in the film. She has new ideas and the moment of surprise is very important in a short film”.
Producer Saumitra Sengupta said “We at The Sonno want to give support to the young and talented individuals. The new individuals come with new ideas and this is needed to propagate new ideas. We are also keen to work with experienced individuals as well”.
The film’s duration was 14 minutes and 49 seconds.
After the screening of the film, a discussion was organized.
