The screening of the short film Kalpana took place in the presence of the cast and crew of the film.

The story is about Swapneel who is a painter. He is a modern man with a calm nature. The person close to his heart is Kalpana, his lover.  Kalpana wants to get married to Swapneel. Swapneel does not want to bind their love according to societal norms. Kalpana agrees with Swapneel’s modern ideas. However, their happiness is short-lived as she is lost. Where did she go?

The film is presented by Rituparna Sengupta.

Kalpana stars Bhaswar Chatterjee and Debleena Dutt.

Bhaswar Chatterjee said “There are only two characters in the film. The story has been written very well by Shyamshree Roychoudhury. The director of this film is a very calm-headed person. I have not seen any director like him in our industry. This is my first work with him”.

Debleena Dutt said that it was Rituparna Sengupta who called her and told her that Saikat Das will be calling her for a new short film. “Then I met with the director at a coffee shop. The story attracted me and I agreed to do the film. The dialogues are so well written. It is not always that you get the such good dialogue. Sometimes we just have to mouth dialogues that are not so well written. However, this is not the case with this film” said the actress.

Bhaswar also added that though he had not worked on many projects with Debleena however he had worked on good projects opposite the actress.

The story and script of the film are by Shyamshree Roychoudhury.

The screenplay, dialogues, editing, and direction is by Saikat Das.

The background music and song arrangement has been done by D. Saikat and Tintin. D. Saikat has sung the song for the film.

The length of the short film is 18 minutes.
