Second Chapter of Global International Film Festival Announced
The Film Federation of India and Sikkim Film Co-operative Society Ltd in association with Sikkim Government announced the second chapter of the Global International Film Festival.
This was announced at a press conference which was graced by Firdausal Hasa, Namrata Thapa, Secretary, IPR, Govt of Sikkim, Arindam Sil, Gargi Roychowdhury, Agnimitra Paul, Arijit Dutta and others.
This will be the first international film festival for Sikkim. Vinod Pradhan will be given the Lifetime Achievement Award while the inaugural film is Every 68 Minutes.
Many directors and producers will be attending the film festival. Workshop and seminar classes will also be conducted for the youth by NFDC, FFO.
Speaking at the press meet, Arindam Sil said “It was a pleasure to shoot a documentary on Sikkim. The local people were so helpful. And even the government officials also helped us a lot in the shoot of the film. We had a great time exploring Sikkim in a new light. The state is not only about beautiful locales but it is also about the infrastructure that Sikkim offers to the people”.
The documentary is co-directed by Mandira Chetri and the music is by Bickram Ghosh. The film will be showcased at the film festival. The shooting was completed in six days.
Agnimitra Paul will be showcasing a collection on Indian handicrafts.
Gargee Roychowdhury said “Sikkim has always been a dream place for me. The beautiful locales, the innocence of the kids all teach us a lot about acting. I am glad that this film festival is happening in Sikkim”.
Danny Denzongpa, Geetanjali Thapa and many others have contributed to the film industry from Sikkim. With the help of this film festival, many new actors will be able to understand the craft and take their career forward.
The festival will be held at Sikkim from 28th February with Azerbaijan as the focal country.
