The 2^nd Disha Samman 2019 was conferred to visually challenged people and organisations that have left a mark in the society. The main aim of this award is to recognize the commendable work done by the individuals and the organizations working with visually impaired individuals for overcoming their visual difficulties.

Gracing the occasion was Soumitra Chatterjee, Soumen Mitra, IPS, AFG & IGP, Training, West Bengal Police, Sharbari Datta and Dr Debashish Bhattacharya, Chairman and Managing Director, Disha Eye Hospitals.

The award was conferred upon Kanai Lal Chakraborty who is a blind swimmer, Dr Mousree Basistha, Professor and Shyambazar Blind Opera, a theatre group working with the blind performers.

The Disha Samman consisted of a plaque and a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
