The Greatest Show on Earth (GSOE), a high-end tourism company, has teamed up with Gouri, a women’s rights NGO located in West Bengal, to host a unique training program called Shakti Rupen during this year’s Durga Puja festivities as a step toward women’s empowerment and safety. The program was held on the campus of the Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT) to empower women through self-defense training.

The goal of the Shakti Rupen project was to teach self-defense skills to women from South 24 Parganas’ suburbs and rural communities, giving them the confidence to defend themselves against assailants. This initiative is a component of Gouri’s larger goal to stop sexual assault against women through research, legislative advocacy, awareness campaigns, and male sensitization.

The workshop was given by Dr. Raj Sekhar Aich, the founder of Gouri and a specialist in self-defense training. The event, which included forty female GMIT students, taught them contemporary methods for women to protect themselves in perilous circumstances. The seminar was especially effective because of Dr. Aich’s expertise and experience, which gave participants useful skills and increased self-confidence.

The partnership between Gouri and GSOE is indicative of an increasing emphasis on women’s safety in the area, particularly during the holiday season when violence against women frequently rises. By providing these self-defense classes, the two groups hope to honor women’s strength and resiliency while empowering them to accept their mental and physical prowess.

The occasion represents a major turning point in Gouri’s continuous commitment to empowering women through useful projects and in GSOE’s corporate social responsibility endeavors. The Shakti Rupen program serves as a reminder of the strength women possess and the significance of fostering that strength in daily life, while Durga Puja represents the victory of good over evil.
