The press conference of the upcoming Bengali film Sharthopor was graced by debutant director Annapurna Basu, actors Ranjit Mallick, Koel Mallick, Anirban Chakrabarti, music director Jeet Gannguli, singer Iman Chakraborty, and others.

The film is the story of a woman’s stand for her rightful place in her parental house. Sharthopor focuses on themes like gender equality, justice, and the emotional complexities of family bonds.

“I play Aparna in the film. She is a devoted housewife. Her life is turned upside down when her brother Saurav deceives her into giving up her share of their ancestral house. This is the gross reality that many of us have to face in our daily lives. Only the single child does not have to face any tussle over family property. I just hope that no such problems are faced by siblings in the future,” said Koel Mallick.

The actress also expressed her joy of working with her father, Ranjit Mallick, in this film after more than fifteen years. She revealed that her father listened to the script, liked it, and then only gave his consent to acting in the film.

The director said that the story focuses more on emotional inheritance rather than solely on property and inheritance. The story would remind many of the struggles that they have to face in their day-to-day lives.

Sharthopor will release on 21^st October in theatres.
