Upcoming Bengali film Gotro has been making news in various ways. From the spectacular cast to the engaging story line to the foot tapping songs, the film has been in the news for quite some time now.

The film’s trailer was launched recently in the presence of the director duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee-Nandita Roy, Devlina Kumar, Anusua Majumder, Biswanath Basu, Kharaj Mukherjee, Manali, Nigel Akkara and others.

The film questions whether a Gotro of a person is important or not.

Nigel Akkara who had last done Muktodhara with the director duo mentioned that after his stint in the jail, getting acceptance in the society was made easy by working in the film. He was looking forward to working with the director duo again and when the time came he was so very excited.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the story, Shiboprosad said “The film is based on my mother who lives in a house in Baranagar. She has a few helps and the activities that she does throughout the day and how she behaves with them has all been shown in this film. She even teaches them. So yes a large part of the film is inspired from her”.

Devlina Kumar shared her experiences of working in the film. She features in the song Rangabati with Om. “I am so glad that the song has been so well received. When I was contacted to do the song, I thought I was contacted for just the song. But later after seeing the response, I understood that I may be in the film for one song but the impact has been huge. Whatever acting I have learned, I have learnt it from Shibu da and Nandita di” said the actress.

Manali after working with the director duo in Praktan is back again in this film. “I am glad that I got a chance to work in a feature film yet again. If you are successful in the small screen, that curbs your chance of getting a feature film. That is a sorry state but that is the reality in Bengali film industry. So when I got a call from Windows, I was so excited. I just hope I have been able to do justice to the role” said Manali.

Biswanath Basu who can be seen in the song Mashima Hitler was excited to finally get an item song which is solely on him. “I have been part of many hit songs but those I could not perform on stage shows as they were popular due to the hero of the song. But now this is my song and I had a blast shooting it. The response has been immense and proves that the song has hit the right chord with the audience” said the actor with a big smile.

Gotro has been in the news for all the right reasons. The audience curiosity around the film is also sky high. The film is eyeing for release on Janmashtami.
