Shooting of Bengali Film Purbo Paschim Dakkhin (Uttor Ashbei) in Progress
The shooting of the upcoming Purbo Paschim Dakkhin (Uttor Ashbei) is in progress in different parts of the city. The Kolkata Mail correspondent caught up with the team of the film at Baghbazar Ghat where they were shooting parts of the film.
The film is an upcoming Bengal film by director Rajarshi Dey. Suchandra Vaaniya actor turned producer is producing this movie under the banner named Just Studio.
Gaurav Chakroborty, Eshika Dey (Sacred Games Fame) and Paran Bandopadhyay along with the director was found at the shooting spot.
Purbo Paschim Dakkhin (Uttor Ashbei) will be the first paranormal chiller in Bengali cinema history. The movie is an adaptation of a best seller book Ebong Inquisition by Avik Sarkar. Since Bengal is considered as the hub of necromancy by Indians. Tarapith and Goddess Kali are emblematic of witchcraft and black magic to most Non-Bengalis. The film Purbo Paschim Dakkhin (Uttor Ashbei) will rationalize the dark side of the mankind.
Speaking in between shots, Suchandra Vaaniya said “The biggest challenge as a producer was to make the film according to the book. Thankfully, we are able to make the film in the way that we wanted it. My character is Titli who falls in love with a guy on Facebook. The person poses as something that he is not. He is into human trafficking. What happens next?
The film has an array of stars like Kamleshwar Mukherjee, Paran Bandopadhyay, Arpita Chatterjee, Rajesh Sharma Gaurav Chakroborty, Arryan Bhowmick, Suchandra Vaaniya, Eshika Dey (Sacred Games Fame), Rudraprasad Sengupta, Bidipta Chakroborty, Padmanabha Dasgupta, Satrajit Sarkar, Koushik Kar, Manobi Bandopadhyay, Malabika Sen, Daminee Basu, Richa Sharma and Aryaan in pivotal roles.
First time ever a paranormal sleuth in a Bengali cinema, who is also a real historical character called Krishananda Agambagish -also the batch mate of Chaitnatya Mahaprabhu comes as a time traveler in all the stories.
Eshika Dey did not reveal much about her character. But she said that her character is nothing normal and people will be in for a surprise when they watch the film. The actress was also happy that she will be making her debut as a lead actress in a Bengali film.
Ranjan Palit is the DOP of Bollywood hits Saat Khoon Maaf, Pataka and will be working for the third time in a Bengali film after Aparajita Tumi and Abaseshe.
Versatile music director Debajyoti Mishra will compose the music for Purbo Paschim Dakkhin (Uttor Ashbei).
