Short Film Dusk Shot In Real Locations In Sonagachi
Director Ujjal Paul’s short film Dusk was screened at the 26th KIFF. A press meet was organized that was attended by the director and producer of the film.
The story of the film is about a young Nepalese sex-worker from Sonagachi, Kolkata. She goes out with a client. It is while sitting on the banks of the river that she realizes that her freedom is transient and she has to get back to her monotonous life.
Speaking at the press meet, the director said that the film shows the transience of the freedom of a sex worker. It also shows human emotions based on the reality of life.
The film is a bit slow and there are many slow-motion shots too, revealed the director.
The film has been shot in real-life locations in Sonagachi. The director took eleven months time to get the necessary permissions to shoot the film at this location. Dusk despite been a short film has been shot maintaining the grandeur of a feature film. This is the first film by the director and he was visibly excited about the film.
The film Dusk has been produced by Shapath Das and edited by Jishnu Sen.
