A unique fusion of two art forms—sitar and painting—titled “Shravan” (Monsoon) was organized at Birla Academy in Kolkata. Two artists from distinct disciplines, Shuvashis Sha on canvas and Dipanjan Guha on sitar, came together in this creative partnership. Deepanjanda Guha personally designed the event.

Renowned Sitarist Dipanjan Guha is a student of Pandit Kushal Das. He has performed all over the world, captivating audiences with his captivating melodies. In addition, he writes and climbs mountains.

Eminent painter Shuvashis Sha has shown his paintings throughout India. He is a graduate of Kala Bhavan in Shantiniketan and Government Art College in Kolkata.

A fresh “Shravan” was brought to life on canvas by Shuvashis’s brushstrokes as the notes of Dipanjan’s Sitar echoed. This uncommon “Shravan” was an original attempt to combine painting and music, developing a shared language within the monsoon atmosphere.

“Our duo Shravan is an unusual effort. We aim to produce a collective expression in the monsoon atmosphere by fusing two age-old and highly esteemed art forms: painting and music. It’s not often that you see a big canvas being gradually painted on stage while music plays” said Dipanjan.

It was a captivating evening for the audience.
