On World Environment Day, Siddha Group in association with non-profit organizations Mrittika Earthy Talks & Harimitti organized a plantation drive for the Siddha Elite customers.

To start the initiative, saplings were planted by Mr. Debashis Sen, Chairman, New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA), Ms. Swapna Burman, Indian Heptathlete & Arjuna Awardee, Dr. Swati Nandi Chakraborty, Environmental Scientist, Environment Consultant at Cantonment Board (Government of India) and Mr. Aadish Jain, Director, Siddha Group.

The Siddha Group promised to plant 50,000 seedlings a few years ago, and they have already succeeded in doing so. In West Bengal, saplings were also planted around churches, old people’s homes, orphanages, and schools. The ‘Earth Day Network’ (India Chapter) has praised and commended the efforts. In order to contribute to the effort to raise awareness about the causes of the emergence of Amazon forest fires, Siddha Group organized a tree planting campaign in a handful of its properties. For this drive, some 200 trees and 26,000 shrubs were planted.

Harimitti and Mrittika Earthy Talks will each supply a seedling. Until they grow into trees, the NGOs will care for them for a period of two years. Each customer is allowed to adopt a tree bearing their unique name. They planted saplings of mango, neem, jackfruit, Arjun, and sal.

Siddha’s customers who attended the drive were thrilled and actively participated with their kids.
