Social Drama Piklu’s Special Screening On 15th March

After a hiatus of nearly eight years, the poignant social drama Piklu is finally set to grace the silver screen. The film, which marks the cinematic debut of now-prolific child artist Pavi Roychoudhury, will hold a special screening at Nandan 3 on March 15th, where its official theatrical release date will be announced.
Though Piklu was filmed years ago, production hurdles kept it from audiences until now. During this delay, lead actress Pavi Roychoudhury has blossomed into a household name. Audiences will recognize her from acclaimed films such as Bhalobashar Golpo, O Mon Bhromon, and Amish, as well as her popular stints in television serials like Anurager Chowa and Ramprasad. Seeing her debut performance offers a unique retrospective look at the start of her thriving career, which also includes anchoring Dance Bangla Dance Junior and appearing on Didi No. 1.

Directed and written by Partha D. Mitra, Piklu serves as a sobering critique of the relentless pursuit of wealth at the expense of domestic stability. The story follows Arko and Antara, an ambitious couple whose professional drives eventually fracture their home life. While Antara initially sacrifices her career for their daughter, Piklu, she eventually returns to work, leaving the child in the care of a governess.
The narrative takes a dark, cautionary turn as Arko’s obsession with financial success leads to emotional detachment. The neglect culminates in a harrowing tragedy: Piklu is kidnapped and subjected to a brutal assault. The parents’ realization of their misplaced priorities comes too late, as the young girl’s health fails, leading to a devastating end.
Produced by Silverline Motion Pictures and presented by Shantinath Mohanto, the film features a robust ensemble cast including Samrat Mukherji, Debika Sengupta, Tulika Basu, Biswajit Chakraborty, Rahul, and Priyaance.

The film’s cinematographer is Rana Dasgupta, and the editor is Pijush Ghosh. The soundtrack features a blend of original compositions by Swagata Dey and Soumitra Kundu, alongside the timeless works of Rabindranath Tagore.
Piklu stands as a haunting reminder that while money can be earned back, lost time with family is gone forever.
