Soham Poddar, presently the Marketing Head for Fratelli Wines (East) and Brand Ambassador.

Here is how it all started.

Started his journey in the wine industry in 2013 when he joined Sula Vineyards. His key areas of operations were hotels, bars, and clubs. 11 years back wine was not as popular as it is today. The biggest challenge at that time was to make people aware of wine. As we all know East India is predominantly a whiskey, rum, and beer market. Initially, there was a lot of resistance to convert consumers from their daily pattern of alcohol consumption. His whole focus at that time was to make sure every consumer tasted our wine. Some might like it, some might not but eventually we will achieve our target.

He completed the WSET(Wine and Spirit Education Trust) course in 2014 from the Wine and Spirit University of London, which gave him more knowledge and expertise about wine. In his 9 years journey with Sula, he has done wine tasting with Hoteliers, Social club members, Hotel Management students, Corporate employees homemakers, etc. Apart from East Zone, he has also worked in markets like Hyderabad and Jaipur.

Today being the Marketing Head of East and Brand Ambassador in Fratelli Wines, he can proudly say that his sustained efforts are showing positive results. People are slowly accepting wine as their go-to drink. This is because people are now very knowledgeable about what they are drinking, they can do research in Social media, and the internet and understand that wine is the healthiest of all alcoholic beverages. He aims to spread wine awareness even more and make sure people who consume alcohol are at least aware of the benefits that wine has. Even his company(Fratelli Wines) has the same values to make the best wines in India and make consumer taste their wines.

Working in a diverse market like East India where every state is different from the other in terms of what they eat, lifestyle, and drinking patterns has given him immense experience and he wants to utilize the same to increase the sustainable growth for both the company and individuals working in this field.
