Suraksha Diagnostic Limited organized an event on World Organ Donation Day. It was organized to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and to dispel myths around the process.

The theme for this year’s World Organ Donation Day is “Be the reason for someone’s smile”.

The event was graced by Dr. Debabrata Sen, HOD, Department of Nephrology, IPGMER/SSKM, and Dr. Pratik Das, MBBS, MD (General Medicine), DNB (Nephrology), Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Kolkata.

World Organ Donation Day is organized every year on 13^th August. The day highlights the importance of donating organs after death to save more lives.

Suraksha Clinic and Diagnostics organized a discussion on the importance of organ donation.

There is a growing need for discussions on the legal and ethical aspects of organ donation. People must be made aware of the various issues, and this will help them donate organs easily.

The family members must also be open to such organ donations. Only then can the process be completed.

Religious and social aspects are also part of the issue. Often, people do not want to take organs from people of other caste, creed, and religion. That is also a problem when it comes to organ donation.

Spreading awareness is the need of the hour. By making people aware of the benefits and dispelling myths, can one make changes in the scenario of organ donation in India.
