Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) organized the curtain raiser press conference for the 109th ZSI Day in the gracious presence of Dr. Dhriti Banerjee, Director ZSI & other dignitaries.

The 109^th ZSI Day will be celebrated on 30^th June. To celebrate the 109^th Foundation Day, Animal Taxonomic Summit 2024 has been scheduled from 1^st to 3^rd July 2024. 350 delegates are expected to attend this summit.

The Hon’ble Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, Shri Bhupender Yadav will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest on 30^th June. He will declare the inauguration of the Animal Taxonomy Summit 2024 organized by ZSI.

Smt Kirti Vardhan Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change will grace the event as Guest of Honor.

The Director General of Forests and Special Secretary, MoEFCC, Mr Jitendra Kumar will grace the event.

At the event, the International Society of Zoology (ISZ) will be launched by the Hon’ble Minister of State.

Union Minister of Environment will launch the Fauna of India Checklist Portal and also release the Animal Discoveries 2023. It will consist of more than 600 new species of animals. Plant Discoveries consisting of more than 300 new plant species and new records from India will also be released.

The first ever Barcode Atlas of Indian Fishes- a joint publication by the ICAR-NBFGR, Lucknow and ZSI Kolkata and ROAR- Celebrating 50 years of Project Tiger- a book by Shiladitya Chaudhury and Ketan Sengupta will also be released at the event.

The recommendations at the summit will be conveyed to the Indian Government that is related to biodiversity conservation.
