Special Postal Stamp On Platinum Jubilee Of South Point School
To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee Year of South Point School and High School, India Post (Govt. of India), the Philatelic Department, Kolkata has designed a special postal stamp under their “My Stamp” program.
This stamp was unveiled on the school premises. Ms Sudarshana Sen, Deputy Director PO, Business Development & Marketing, Kolkata GPO, Mr Dulal Das, Asst. Dy. Director PO, Philatelic Bureau, Kolkata, Mr. S K Daga, Trustee & Vice President, Mr. Krishna Damani, Trustee & Secretary of South Point Education Society, senior teachers of the School and students graced the occasion.
South Point was established in 1954 and will complete seven decades of its existence on 1st April 2024.
In addition, the school has organized a special educational activity in which all 12,000 students will write and mail letters to their parents and guardians at home using the recently announced school stamp as well as specially designed stationery and envelopes provided by the school. India Post has temporarily established a post office in the school for this reason.
The school intended for every student to benefit from the activity as well as take part in it meaningfully. It has given the students a chance to participate in this activity as members of the South Point Community in a time when writing letters is almost nonexistent outside of exam rooms. They will be able to keep the commemorative stamp as well. Every time they think back on this day, the letter to their parents and themselves will make them smile and bring back memories of the School.
