Srabani Sen Music Academy’s Fifth Annual Concert Gaaner Sure Amar Mukti Organized
Srabani Sen Music Academy celebrated its fifth annual concert at an event held at P.C.Chandra Garden. The musical was titled “Gaaner Sure Amar Mukti”. It was performed by the students of the academy under the baton of Srabani Sen.
Sumitra Sen, Srikanta Acharya, noted singer Indrani Sen, Soumitra Chatterjee, ace choreographer Alokananda Roy and Srabani Sen graced the occasion.
The musical presentation featured songs which speak about Gaan that is music and how Tagore used the word in his songs. It was about how music leads to God, freedom of soul, eternity. Songs like Gaaner Bhitor diye Jakhon Dekhi, Gaaner Bhelay Bela Obelay, Danriye Achho Tumi Amar Gaaner Opare, Ki Gabo Ami, Arup Tomar Bani, Gaaner Surer Asonkhani are worth a mention. The evening started with the inaugural song Tumi Je Surer Agun Lagiye Dile Mor Prane rendered by eight hundred students of academy. Srabani Sen sang Tomari Jhornatolar Nirjone (Solo), Bojre Tomar Baje Banshi ( with teachers ).
On the other hand a musical dance drama Balmiki Pratibha was staged under the directorial baton of noted dancer Alokananda Roy. Inmates of the Presidency correctional home took part into it. Tagore’s musical drama ‘Valmiki Pratibha’, which traces the transformation of Ratnakar from a dreaded dacoit to a holy sage, Valmiki, the creator of Ramayana was performed at the event.
