T-Series, Reliance Entertainment, and Match Cut Productions have released the first song from their film ‘Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga,’ DHOOP PAANI BAHNE DE. This lovely song was sung by late vocalist KK, and it is likely his final film song. Shantanu Moitra wrote the song, and Gulzar Saab wrote the lyrics.

KK was one of our generation’s most talented playback singers. He was also universally liked and had an aura of positive energy all around him during his brilliant 26 years of work.

DHOOP PAANI BAHNE DE is a beautiful song with meaningful and moving lyrics that plead for Mother Nature’s protection.

“Srijit has done me a favor in Sherdil. Not only did I get to write for such a beautiful film, but I also got to meet KK for the first time in a long time. “Chhor aye hum woh galiya…” was the first song KK sang in Maachis. I was overjoyed when he came to sing the song for Sherdil. It is as if he had come to say his goodbyes. It is a call to save your jungles, rivers, animals, and birds, as it’s used in the film. He should have stayed a little longer after lending his voice to such an important message. It’s a shame it wasn’t in our possession. I’ll remember him in my prayers. Sherdil’s memory will follow him wherever he goes” said Gulzar.

“KK sang this song like it was his own. He told me that this song has reunited him with Gulzar sahib after two decades apart. He was also ecstatic that he would perform this song live because it is about conservation and the youth should hear it” said Shantanu Moitra.

“We have grown up on Gulzar Saab’s poetry. I am honored to bring you this song. We have grown up listening to KK’s voice in every heartfelt situation. For me, it’s a double dream come true” said Srijit Mukherji.

Inspired by true events, the film is about the adverse effects of urbanization, man-animal conflict, and poverty leading to a bizarre practice in a village that resides on the edge of a forest.

‘Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga’ is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series Film and Reliance Entertainment, produced by Bhushan Kumar, and Reliance Entertainment and production by Match Cut Productions Private Limited. The film stars Pankaj Tripathi, Neeraj Kabi, and Sayani Gupta and is directed by Srijit Mukherji.

The film will release on 24th June.
