Under the vibrant leadership of Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata (SXUK), is preparing for its seventh convocation ceremony, which is set for February 21, 2026, at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town.

This was announced at a press conference that was graced by Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj.

Rev. Dr. Arturo Sosa, S.J., Superior General of the Jesuits based in Rome, Italy, has given his consent to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.

His Excellency, the Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, who is the visitor of the university, is also expected to preside over the function along with Rev. Dr. John Felix Raj, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of SXUK.

1085 students will receive their degrees. Out of these 24 students will receive their PhD degrees.

Both academically and physically, the university has experienced significant change since 2017. It had 5 courses initially, and now the university offers 20 courses. The second academic building, which will include a library, a moot court, and contemporary classrooms and labs, is almost finished. Approximately Rs. 550 crores have already been spent by the institution on infrastructure development. Two smaller auditoriums will feature seats for 600 and 300 people, while the big auditorium will hold about 2000 people.

Additionally, the university intends to build an MDP Block with 75 rooms, including VIP suites. The university is also considering building two swimming pools to encourage students to participate in sports and games. Students will receive the necessary instruction to become proficient swimmers.

In 2026, the university will offer MTech and B.Tech. The course will be added eventually. The institution also offers a variety of programs, including a medical college, the School of Design, the School of Nursing, the Integrated MBA, and the Integrated B.Ed.

Many students from the corporate sector are drawn to the Executive MBA program. In order to address the constantly evolving need for competent executives to manage hospitals successfully and efficiently, the university is also considering launching a new MBA program in hospital management and an Executive MBA in blended mode.

The new plan calls for NAAC accreditation in 2026. The University is creating the documents in accordance with the ten binary NAAC criteria that were covered in the NAAC-hosted session. In order to assess its readiness, the university completed its sixth academic and administrative audit in November 2025. To lessen the difficulties for the upcoming audit, the recommendations made by the outside experts are being taken into consideration.

The university is using an AI-powered Learning Management System (LMS) to stay up to date with the AI era. In collaboration with Shiksak, a UK-based firm, St. Xavier’s University in Kolkata is the first university in eastern India to implement this cutting-edge teaching and learning tool for the benefit of teachers and students.

Additionally, it is in line with SXUK’s daring “Vision 2030” target of 10,000 enrollments. Teachers may concentrate on the success of their students by using the AI-powered LMS platform, which gives SXUK tools for content administration, online testing, and assignment management.

For students and working professionals who want to improve their professional knowledge and abilities, certificate and diploma programs will also be offered.

The university has also begun searching for a new site for the medical and nursing college. They are awaiting a conversation with the state administration. It has been announced that a nursing college for both boys and girls will be established initially, followed by the establishment of a medical college.

With so many plans, St. Xavier’s University is focusing solely on quality education for all.
