Dev, Barkha Bisht, Shreya, Savvy, Anirban Chakrabarti, director Soojit Dutta, Nilayan Chatterjee, and others graced the song launch of Haye Re Biye from the upcoming Bengali film Khadaan.

Haye Re Biye is a fun-filled folk wedding song that stars Dev, Barkha Bisht, Jisshu Sengupta, and Shreya.

The music composition and lyrics of the song are by Nilayan Chatterjee.

It has been sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya, June Banerjee, and Sudip Nandy.

“Khadaan is a compelling tale of brave individuals who, with bravery and cunning, transform their own lives and the destiny of a Damodar Valley coalfield. Since we announced the film, there has been much curiosity among the audience. We have a great story with an amazing cast and a fantastic musical team” said Dev.

The director revealed how he pitched the story to Dev. “I had gone to narrate a story to Rukmini Maitra. However, I had a story I wanted to narrate to Dev. I told his staff about the story and later I got the chance to tell him the story. He agreed to do this film and I am glad I took the initiative that day” said the director.

Anirban Chakrabarti who had been only seen in urban characters will be seen in a tribal character for the first time. The actor said “After Pradhan released last year, Dev said he wanted to tell me a new story for a film. I was amazed after hearing the story that someone could think of me in this role. However, there came a time when due to date problems, I was unable to do the film. But luck was in my favour and I could finally do it. The director recorded the dialect that I had to speak in the film. That helped a lot. Somnath Kundu and the director helped with the look. I had great fun shooting this film”.

Barkha Bisht and Dev will be seen working after 14 years. “Even after 14 years, I have the same chemistry with Dev. Last time I was his girlfriend in the film and this time I am married to him. I had great fun shooting the film. I am very impressed with Dev very much. Earlier I worked with Dev the actor. But the meticulous nature of producer Dev came to the forefront this time” added the actress.

June Banerjee who has lent her voice to the song said that she has never sung such a folk wedding song before. She was also happy to again work with Barkha.

Dev said “I am proud of the films that I have been associated with. Whether the film does well or not so well is not an issue. I love all my films. I was trying to do something big and I met Soojit at the right time. However, I faced trouble with the production as my producer thought it was not the right time to invest such a huge amount of money. I called Nispal Singh and he just asked me when I want to start the shoot. To date, he has not asked me anything about the shoot. I am grateful to him for the support”.

Dev also said content is king these days and no film can succeed without a good story. Hence one of the strong points of Khadaan is the engaging storyline.

Jisshu Sengupta could not be present physically at the song launch. So Dev called him up and the actor said “I am glad I am a part of such an amazing project. This film will surely change the face of Bengali mass cinema. This is just my viewpoint. But it was a great experience working in this film”.

With high hopes building up among the audiences, the film is releasing on 20^th December.
