Successful Removal Of 3.8 KG Ovarian Cyst At NIIMS Hospital

A huge 3.8 kg ovarian cyst was successfully removed from a 19-year-old female patient named Priyanka at NIIMS Hospital in Greater Noida, marking a remarkable surgical accomplishment. The patient’s severe abdominal pain and obvious swelling led to the identification of the cyst, which measured about 28x20x10 cm.
Concerns about a possible cancer were raised by early diagnostic scans that indicated the mass came from the colon’s mesentery. Cancer was ruled out following a thorough evaluation. After that, Dr. Harsh Bhati, a consultant general surgeon, and his surgical team took up the case for an exploratory laparotomy.
The complex surgery, which took 1.5 hours, was performed by Dr. Harsh Bhati, Dr. Shehwar Koul, Dr. Partha Nandi, and Dr. Vivek. Anesthesia support was expertly managed by Dr. Ayushmann and Dr. Surekha. After investigating, the group found and removed a paraovarian cyst on the left side.
The patient is doing well under observation after surgery, and no problems have been reported. The successful outcome was largely due to the prompt diagnosis, interdisciplinary teamwork, and expert surgical intervention.
This instance demonstrates NIIMS Hospital’s ongoing dedication to offering young patients with uncommon and complicated conditions cutting-edge, life-saving surgical care.
