Sunfeast Kolkata Sports Football League Offers Platform to Young Football Enthusiasts in Schools
Kolkata is known as the Mecca of Indian Football. Keeping with this name, a first of its kind football tournament for Schools”Sunfeast Kolkata Sports Football League” was launched in Kolkata. The launch took place in the presence of former Indian footballers Monoranjan Bhattacharya, Prasanta Banerjee, Utpal Kumar Ganguly, Honorary Secretary of Indian Football Association, Srinjoy Bose, Honorary Assistant Secretary of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club and other stalwarts from Indian football.
Sports Connect, a sport Management Company based out of Kolkata, has geared up to identify the young football-enthusiasts of the city and to encourage the student community to play football. For the first time, Kolkata will witness an annual football league for its top ranked English medium schools. Students of reputed schools like La Martiniere for Boys, Don Bosco Park Circus, St.James School, Calcutta Boys’ School, St. Thomas Boys’ School Khidderpore, St. Francis & Xavier School, The Heritage School, Albany Hall Public School, St. Joseph & Mary’s School and St. Thomas Day School will participate in the league.Each school team have been provided with a football player of national and international repute as their mentor. The mentor will be guiding the young talents through the tournament and they will also select those players who have been performed exceptionally in the tournament. Sports Connect’ will arrange an advanced level camp under renowned International and National football stars for the selected players.The winner of Sunfeast KSFL – 2018 will get an opportunity to play a friendly match with the junior team of any esteemed club of national repute in India.
The list of mentor assigned to guide the teamsthrough the tournament comprises of Prasanta Banerjee, Dulal Biswas, Manoranjan Bhattacharya,Sumit Mukherjee, Satyabrata Bhowmick, Basudeb Mondal, Md Fareed, Debasish Mukherjee, Sangram Mukherjee and Hemanta Dora.
Sunfeast Kolkata Sports Football League will take place at NKDA Stadium in New Town, Rajarhat from 20th November to 11th December.
