SVF Entertainment Pvt. Ltd procures injunction against producer Ashok Dhanuka, Eskay Video Private Limited, and Zee Entertainment in a copyright infringement matter.

Commercial Court Alipore division has passed an injunction restraining producer Ashok Dhanuka, Eskay Video Private Limited, and broadcaster Zee Entertainment from producing and/or releasing any show based on the stories of a fictional character, Feluda.

SVF Entertainment has moved the commercial court at Alipore challenging production of a show based on fictional character Feluda and its intended release on Zee5 and other platforms was unauthorized and infringement of SVFs rights.

Feluda is a famous Bengali detective fictional character created by renowned author and Oscar Award-winning Film Director Late Satyajit Ray.

SVF claims that it holds exclusive rights to Feluda stories by way of an assignment agreement for valuable consideration.  The Court took into account the submission advanced by SVF and found the balance of convenience in its favor.  Accordingly, the respondent parties are restrained from producing and exploiting any show based on Feluda Stories.
