Tales of Arabya Rajani to Come Alive on Colors Bangla from 14th January Onward
The tales of One Thousand and One Nights have always remained popular all over the world for so many years. Now Colors Bangla has come up with a show Arabya Rajani which will showcase these tales for the Bengali small screen audience.
The Kolkata Mail correspondent caught up with the cast and crew on the sets of the upcoming Colors Bangla show.
Gourab who has mesmerized the audiences with his performance as Lord Shiva in Star Jalsha’s Om Namah Shivay will be seen in the role of Persian King Shahryar. “I wanted to do different characters so that the audiences will have fun watching me on screen. I do not want them to feel that I am repeating myself. Hence the body language and style of speaking is completely different from what I have done till now in my other characters as Shiva, Krishna” said Gourab.
When asked about the most challenging thing that he has experienced while playing this character, Gourab said “The most difficult thing is the manner of speaking for sure. The mix of Bengali and Urdu words will sound interesting to the audiences. When I am speaking, I have to keep in mind my diction and style of speaking. I cannot repeat myself”.
Sayantani Sengupta plays Fatima in the serial. “I am having great fun while shooting the serial. I have worked with Surinder Films before too and they have a great work environment. I play Ali Baba’s brother Qassem’s wife in the serial. Both Qassem and Fatima are wicked characters. This is all that I will tell about the character for now. Shooting for the serial is fun because we usually play contemporary characters and these characters are straight out of a book”.
Jasmine Roy will be seen in the role of the king’s wife Scheherzade in the serial. “The king marries me to kill like his other wives. But I am smart enough to not let that happen. I tell him stories and keep him engaged. Shooting the serial is fun though I have not been to the outdoor shoots” said the actress. Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves is her favourite story from Arabya Rajani.
Gitashree (Sultana Kohinoor), Rupsha (Marjina), Rohit Mukherjee (Ali baba), Kaushik Banerjee (Qassem), Adrija (Duniyazaad), Priyam (Hussain) and others will be seen in other important roles in the serial.
The director is Amit Das and Akash Sen. The music is by Debojyoti Mishra and Debjit Roy. The producer is Surinder Singh and Nispal Singh.
The story is by Anuja Chattopadhyay and the screenplay is by Aditi Majumder. The dialogue is by Pronita Mukherjee Jana.
The show will be aired at 7.30 pm every Monday to Saturday from 14th January.
