Tara Sutaria Walked The Ramp For Aisha Rao’s Spanish-Inspired Collection
Aisha Rao’s most recent festive collection, presented at Lakmé Fashion Week in collaboration with FDCI, put a fantastically stylish spin on Catalanmodernism and art nouveau. Its goal was to recreate the Trencadis style of folk art through its designs.
Based in Hyderabad, the main sources of inspiration for Aisha Rao’s collection were her trips to Barcelona, the magnificent works of Antoni Gaudi and his Catalan contemporaries, the Gothic grandeur of churches, and stylized work.
Numerous saris, gowns, lehengas, cholis, and dupattas had intricate geometric patterns and Spanish expressionist artwork. Large amounts of Spanish red and lapis lazuli blue were used in the color scheme as motifs in scenes from nature, landscapes, and sculptures.
In order to create a brocade-like texture, recycled textiles were combined with georgette dobby that shone with gold and silver filament. Sequins studded the clothes for added drama, and prints that sparkled with badla work were added for added excitement.
Aisha showed off a long-sleeved shirt with a design and a glittering tunic shirt with long sleeves and tie-ups paired with sparkling pants to give males some options. An ornate bundie worn over a brown kurta and skinny pants or a gleaning sherwani with fitting pants incorporated the traditional style.
When Tara Sutaria closed the Aisha Rao show wearing an embroidered lehenga and an off-the-shoulder long-sleeved choli, she was the epitome of a showstopper. The short, black, tulle veil with its beautiful, lacy edging offered a delicate touch.
Aisha Rao’s Spanish-inspired collection featured a nostalgic flavor and a joyful touch that will appeal to fashion enthusiasts. It presented a line that transitioned smoothly from daylight to dusk.
