“Thank you Tota for giving me my dream Feluda whom I can direct. He not only fits the bill physically but personality-wise too, he fits the bill. He has a never-say-die attitude and he is immensely fit like Feluda. He is just a perfect fit for Feluda” said director Srijit Mukherji at the announcement video launch of Feludar Goyendagiri.

This announcement video was launched on the 101^st birthday of Satyajit Ray.

Gracing the occasion was director Srijit Mukherjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Kalpan Mitra, Joy Sarkar, and Anirban Chakrabarti.

Feludar Goyendagiri shows the much-loved story of Darjeeling Jawmjawmat.

“I was so happy while shooting this series. I have never been so happy while shooting any series or film. This is a part of my childhood and I knew that no force in the world could take away the happiness that I felt while shooting this series” added the director.

Joy Sarkar has composed the music for the new Original series, Feludar Goyendagiri. “I do not trouble myself by thinking what Ray has done for the music of Feluda. I just enjoyed myself and composed the music of the series” said Joy Sarkar.

Anirban Chakravarti said “There are few works that one can be proud of while becoming associated with it. The fact that I get to play the iconic character of Jatayu is a huge achievement for me. Comparing this series with the other works of Feluda is not right. We have put in our best efforts to create something new. We cannot compare with the great works that have been done before on this iconic character”.

Kalpan Mitra who plays the role of Topshe is also making his Hoichoi debut with this series.

Tota Roy Chowdhury recalled an incident when after the screening of Tintorettor Jishu, a young man in a black Punjabi and long hair had come up to him. That young lad had said to him that if he ever made Feluda, he would cast Tota. And that young man was Srijit Mukherji. The actor thanked the director for considering him for the role of Feluda.

“Most people are aware that I have never been greedy for any role in my life. But when Srijit called me up in 2019 to cast me as Feluda, I was more than eager to do this film. This is a dream role for me. Which actor would ever turn down this role?” said Tota.

Tota further added that the entire team had been cautious during the shoot of the film. “We did not want to do any sequence or speak any dialogue that does not gel well with the image of Feluda. We wanted to stick to the story and not harm the sentiments of the audience. And Feluda is a sentiment for most Bengalis” added the actor.

While speaking about casting Anirban as Jatayu, the director said “Anirban has made Jatayu his own. He had earlier acted as Eken Babu and has been so popular and loved by the audience. So it was very difficult for him to draw a line between the two characters. However, with his background in theatre, he could actually distinctly make the two characters different. He even suggested what changes I should make in Jatayu so that people do not compare with Eken”.

Feludar Goyendagiri will stream from June onwards on Hoichoi.
