SVF and 6, Ballygunje Place organized an interesting event for the promotion of the upcoming Bengali film, The Eken.

Gracing the occasion were director Joydeep Mukherjee, Anirban Chakrabarti, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, RJ Somak Ghosh, Paayel Sarkar, Debasish Mondal, singer Sidhu, Godhuli, music composer of the film Aamlaann Chakraabarty.

Anirban Chakrabarti said “Playing Eken for the past four years has been an exciting experience. When the first web series was been shot, no one has the idea that a second season will be produced. And now we have done five seasons and we have made a film on the Maachey Bhaatey Bengali detective. I am excited to see how the audience reacts after watching Eken on the big screen”.

The story of the film is based on a story written by Sujan Dasgupta. The script and the dialogues have been penned down by Padmanabha Dasgupta.

The characters of Pramatha and Bappaditya will be played by RJ Somak Ghosh and Suhotra Mukhopadhyay. The director said “Due to some problems, the actors who played these characters in the web series could not act in the film. However, the audience will love Somak and Suhotra and will want them again in the next Eken Babu film that will be made”.

“Joydeep da looks serious on the outside. However, he is a fun person in reality. He is a great director to work with. The experience of working on this film has been a great experience. I had worked with Anirban da earlier. But we got to share the same room along with Somak. We got to understand one another and we all worked as a team. A fulfilling shooting experience” said Suhotra Mukhopadhyay.

The story is set in the hills where Eken Babu meets famous film actress Bipasha Mitra. She gives him an offer to investigate a case. However, it takes a gruesome turn with a murder happening in the hills.

“I have never shot any film in Darjeeling. This is my first time. I have been to the place so many times but never have I got the chance to shoot at such a beautiful place. Bipasha Mitra has been an interesting character to portray. I had to remind myself that I am an actress in the film and I need to carry myself accordingly. This is quite the opposite of how I am in my real life” said Paayel.

Sidhu who has sung the title track said “I knew Aamlaann for many years. I knew him since he started a band and I even judged him. I have worked on non-film projects with him. However, we never got the chance to do film projects despite him doing such great works. So when I was asked to sing this song, I immediately agreed to it. It is a fun and serious song at the same time and Godhuli has penned down wonderful lyrics for the song”.

RJ Somak who will be seen in the role of Pramatha said “The entire team and the director has been patient with me. I have either covered Anirban da’s face while taking a selfie or could not adjust to the light and so on. However, the team has been patient with me and helped me to become Pramatha”.

The film has been shot in Darjeeling in a span of 14 to 15 days.

The film is eyeing for release on 14^th April.
