The third edition of Tantidhatri festival 2019 was inaugurated recently.

The international women’s performing art festival was initiated by noted folk artiste Parvathy Baul and was inaugurated at Rabindra Tirtha, New Town. Parvathy Baul along with other dignitaries from various fields like Pramita Mallick, Nandita Pal Choudhury, Dolly Basu, Dipannita Acharya, Mousumi Bhowmick, Seema Kohli, Amaranta( Mexico),Maristella (Italy),Eleonor ( France ) and others graced the inaugural ceremony.

The entire sessions were presented by the noted interdisciplinary artiste Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee. Noted Tagore song exponent Pramita Mallick sang “Ami Chitrangada” while Mudiyettu a traditional ritual also were performed at the do.

On the inaugural day Seema Kohli performed an act In Silence The Secrets Speak.

While speaking about the festival, Parvathy Baul said, “This festival to feature women artists will boost the confidence of many women artists in India as also from abroad too. In six years, we have done the festival thrice. However we have plans of doing the festival every year from now on”.

With the help of this festival, many art forms like Pandavani, Mudiyettu and others which are not so popular was showcased to the public.

The participating countries were India, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia, France, Argentina, Norway, Poland, Korea, Italy and so on. Thirty participants participated in the festival-15 from India and 15 from abroad.
