Beleghata Sandhani which had been strictly adhering to traditional style of Durga Puja for the past forty eight years will now have a thematic Durga Puja in 2018. The theme of the Durga Puja is Torjon Gorjon.

A press meet was organized to announce this theme. Present at the press conference was artist Krishanu Paul, Kaushik Ghosh, Puja Secretary, Rinku Kar, Diptendra Saha, Rathindranath Das and others. A person dressed as a tiger was also present at the press meet to highlight the theme of the puja this year.

The theme has been taken up keeping in mind the status of tiger conservation. Royal Bengal Tiger which is the national animal of India has been under threat with the vast increase of population and the cutting down of forests. Poaching is also another threat faced by these magnificent beasts. The number of tigers has increased from before but still the number is not that great. Hence keeping this in mind, the puja committe have come up with this theme to stop the killing of these beasts and aid in tiger conservation.

Bamboo, wood, iron, fiber grass and other ingredients will be used to make this pandal.
