The trailer launch of the upcoming Bengali film Adda took place recently. The cast and crew of the film graced the occasion.
Adda is about two naughty angels, Black and White, who come down to earth and spy in on the lives of four jobless friends, an aging freedom fighter, a struggling actress, and a self-righteous journalist in order to decide humanity’s fate and in the process become witnesses to the attempts of humans at happiness.
Adda is an intrinsic part of Bengali culture. This is an important element in Bengali culture and has not been so important in other cultures. This has made the director realize that one should make a film on this adda sessions.
The cast of the film consists of Soumitro Chatterjee(Dhritimaan Panja), Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Saayoni Ghosh (Tanya), Indrashish Roy (Rudro), Sourav Das (Satyajit), Prantik Banerjee and Dipangshu Acharya.
Saayoni Ghosh while speaking about her character did not reveal much. However she said that her character Tanya is a character artist and not a leading actress. So there is a dichotomy and a clash in her character. The actress also added that she loves hosting adda sessions at her home.
“Adda is an important element in this film. And I am part of this adda. I play the husband of Tanya played by Saayoni Ghosh. He works at an office and has been married recently. The film is based with the backdrop of Durga Pujo” said Indrashish Roy.
Sourav Das plays a NRI film maker who wants to make a contemporary film on Rabindranath Tagore. “Bengalis love their adda sessions. And the range of topics discussed at such sessions is diverse. There is an element of nostalgia which will be revived with this film” said the actor.
The film is written and directed by Devayush Chowdhary.
The music is by Suvam Moitra and Joydeep T Banerji. The songs in the film are Thik bhul tanatani, Chini Go Rock Version, Shohor-Adda theme and Shut up.
