Many of us might have forgotten the historical importance of today’s date i.e 8^th December. However, on this day in 1930, Binay Basu, Badal Gupta, and Dinesh Gupta entered the Writers’ Building in British attire and punished the tyrant Mr. Simpson. Keeping the historical significance of the day in mind, the trailer of the upcoming Bengali film 8/12 (Binay Badal Dinesh Saga) was unveiled at BBD Bagh, in front of the statue of Binay Badal Dinesh.

Gracing the occasion was director Arun Roy, Kinjal Nanda, Arna Mukherjee, Remoo, Gulshanara Khatun, Anushka Chakraborty, music director Soumya Rit and producer Kan Singh Sodha.

Kinjal, Arna, and Remoo will be seen in the role of Binay Basu, Badal Gupta, and Dinesh Gupta respectively.

The three actors paid their respect for the freedom fighters and offered flowers at their statues.

Speaking at the occasion, Kinjal said “I am a doctor by profession, and during the shoot of the film I came to know that Binay Basu was also training to become a doctor. That gave me goosebumps and I could relate with him. I feel honored to do a film like this”.

Arna laid stress on the fact that at this age people have become so self-centered. He said that it is indeed amazing to bring forth a story that shows the lives of three young men who did not think of their future or what will happen to them and instead sacrificed themselves for their country.

Remoo said “I am so thrilled to release the trailer in such a place. We have worked hard to make this film. This film is important as this shows a slice of history that the youngsters must remember. The freedom that we are enjoying now is all due to the efforts of such freedom fighters”.

The director mentioned that the film must be watched to unearth the reason why Binay, Badal, and Dinesh entered the Writers’ Building to kill Mr. Simpson.

Saswata Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Shankar Debnath, Devraj Mukherjee, and others will be seen in pivotal roles in the film.

The film will be released in January next year.
