Trailer Of Byomkesh O Durgo Rahasya Out Now; Srijit’s Byomkesh Team Graces Event

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the teams of the Byomkesh Bakshi film and web series came together to release the trailer of Byomkesh O Durgo Rahasya.

Gracing the occasion were director Srijit Mukherji, Anirban Bhattacharya, Sohini Sarkar, Srikant Mohta, director Birsa Dasgupta, Dev, Ambarish Mukherjee, Rukmini Maitra, and others.

Speaking at the event, Srijit Mukherji said “I am thrilled that we are spreading positivity and also supporting one another in the industry. Spread positivity and do not think that we only quarrel among ourselves. Two makers can opt for a single story but their presentation will be different and so will their storytelling. Durgo Rahasya is a cinematic story and no director would like to leave this story. I am glad that we could finally silence all the rumors and gossip that has been happening online”.

Dev stressed the fact that there was no animosity when both the projects were announced. “We have taken a different way to present the story. Since Satyabati is pregnant, Byomkesh and Ajit will not be seen smoking in the film. I have taken this stand because Byomkesh is a family man. Hence he will care for his family and as part of that care, he will not smoke in front of his pregnant wife. He is also the only detective who is married. Hence these are some changes we made in his character” said the actor-producer.

Dev also added that Sohini Sarkar was among the actresses who mentioned that Rukmini would make a wonderful Satyabati.

While much talk has been going on about the casting of Ambarish as Ajit, the actor said “I think I am the only Ajit who is healthy. And that is also my strongest point as well. People now have a fixed notion about how Ajit will look. I intend to break that. I am satisfied with the way I have portrayed Ajit. And I also think that I am the most talked about Ajit to date. No other Ajit has received such response even before the film was released” said the actor with a smile.

Anirban who plays the role of Byomkesh in Srijit’s web series praised Dev after watching the trailer. “Dev can do justice to the larger-than-life portrayal of Byomkesh. The other actors who played Byomkesh had similar looks. But he looks different and his presentation of the sleuth is also different. I am looking forward to watching the film” said the actor.

Sohini Sarkar was full of praises for Rukmini Maitra. She said, “I am looking forward to seeing her as the new Satyabati. I have already played this part four times now. It will be good to see her take on this character”.

When asked why Srijit did not cast Dev as Byomkesh despite showering so many compliments on him, the director said “I had an actor in mind when I thought of making this series. Now I am not the type who can change the actor just like that. It takes time. Hence I did not cast Dev”.
