Trailer Of Lokkhi Chele Shows Dr. Amir Hussain’s Stand Against Religious Dogmas
“Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee had a great contribution to my directorial journey. I wanted to do telefilms and ETV Hyderabad did not want to produce my film. I did not have any renowned work then. Nandita Roy had said that she will resign if they did not produce my telefilms. I do not know how one can say that. I did not have any family relations with her. My gratitude for them continued to grow as I reached Hyderabad” said Kaushik Ganguly at the trailer launch of Lokkhi Chele.
The trailer launch event also saw the presence of Ujaan Ganguly, Purab Seal Acharya, Ritwika Pal, Churni Ganguly, Indrasish Roy, and others.
The film is about a young Muslim doctor Dr. Amir Hussain who stands against the superstitions and social and religious dogmas present in rural society. He is adamant to bring about changes in the lives of the villagers.
“I have always been associated with niche films and people think that those are the kind of films that I like. I am glad that I was associated with such a film as Lokkhi Chele. My heartfelt gratitude to Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Roy for staying with a film like Lokkhi Chele and giving it such support” said Churni Ganguly.
The director also added that when one has directors as producers, the tension is more. “You cannot tell them that this is the correct way and you know nothing. That can be done with producers who are just producing the film. But in this case, they are renowned directors who have so much knowledge. Hence it was a great tension for me” said Kaushik Ganguly.
Ujaan Ganguly will be seen as Dr. Amir Hussain. Purab Seal Acharya as Shibnath Dutta, Ritwika Pal as Gayatri Chatterjee, Churni Ganguly as Dr. Mitali, Ambarish Bhattacharya as Joy Mitra, Babul Supriyo, Indrasish Roy, and others will be seen in other important roles.
Indrasish Roy thanked Kaushik Ganguly for giving him his break in the film industry with his film Rang Milanti. He also said that without the opportunity given to him, he would not have made a name in this field. “After Nagarkirtan ended, I had told Kaushik Ganguly that I will like to do a longer outdoor shoot with him. I never knew that I will get this opportunity with Lokkhi Chele” added the actor.
A cake was cut to celebrate the birthday of Ritwika Pal.
“When we ended the shoot of Lokkhi Chele in 2019, it was on my birthday. And when we are starting the promotion of the film in 2022, it is on the birthday of Ritwika’s birthday. Life has come to a full circle. Though the release of the film has been delayed, it has been for the better. The topic has become more relevant in today’s society” said Ujaan.
Lokkhi Chele will release on 25th August.
