Tu Zinda Hai From Padatik Out Now; Arijit Singh & Sonu Nigam Collaborates For 1st Time
The first song Tu Zinda Hai from the film Padatik was released in the august presence of director Srijit Mukherji, Monami Ghosh, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Debojyoti Mishra, Firdausul Hasan and others.
The date on which the song was released is significant because it was the day on which Mrinal Sen’s Khandahar was released. Khandahar was produced by the Choukhanis and it was an official selection at Un Certain Regard Section of Cannes Film Festival in 1984.
Tu Zinda Hai is also important because this song marks the first time collaboration of eminent singers Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh. This song is an unreleased IPTA song that has been composed by Salil Chowdhury and written by Shailendra.
Srijit Mukherji said “Padatik is a film based on the life and times of Mrinal Sen. Two more films on Mrinal Sen has been made. One is by Kaushik Ganguly and the other is by Anjan Dutt. This is the third film on the legend. We all have made the films based on our perspective of the director. Hence we added this song to the film”.
Speaking at the song launch, Debojyoti Mishra said “I had seen how two films work with each other. The two friends are Mrinal Sen and Salil Chowdhury. It was indeed a sight to behold. I was a young musician in 1979 and to see such great musicians compose music in front of my eyes was indeed special”.
Dhritiman Chatterjee shed light on the directing skills of Mrinal Sen. “Most people know that Satyajit Ray was a very well organized director. He used to make storyboards before the shoot. However, Mrinal Sen was completely different from him. He was not a very organized director. He often did things randomly. This was a stark contrast between these two directors” said the veteran actor.
Monami Ghosh said that the song will add to the enthusiasm surrounding the film.
The film is produced by Firdausul Hasan and co-produced by Shubhajit Mondal.
