We all have heard of male auto-rickshaw drivers. But a female auto-rickshaw driver- not so much!! Colors Bangla have taken up the onus of sharing the story of a female auto-rickshaw driver through their new serial Tumpa Autowali.

The story of this show is inspired by the real-life story of Tandra Sadhukhan who runs the auto-rickshaw on the Rabindra Sarobar-Taratala route.  Initially, she had to struggle to find passengers as people did not travel in an auto driven by a female driver. However, she continued on and now people have accepted her as a capable auto-rickshaw driver.

Tumpa is the family’s sole breadwinner and drives an auto-rickshaw. She aspires to be self-sufficient. Her only love is her autorickshaw, JAAN. She works as an auto-rickshaw driver and attends college to further her education. She is proud of the fact that she drives an auto-rickshaw Abir, on the other hand, is an arrogant businessman and the owner of a cab company. As a result of Tumpa’s marriage to Abir, two people with opposing personalities are brought together. What happens next?

Dona Bhomick will be seen as Tumpa in this show while Sayan Bose will play the role of Abir.

Dona who plays Tumpa said, “She is a strong character who overcomes the obstacles in her life. She not only supports her family but also continues on to fulfill her dreams”.

The other cast members include Sairiti Banerjee, Dolon Roy, Joyjit, and Rii.

Sairiti said, “Pompa is a dual character. She does not want any harm for her family and neither does she want to face any trouble. Pompa wants the best for herself and is also jealous of her sister Tumpa”.

Sayan Bose who plays Abir said “He is emotionally strong and is true to himself and to others. He is a self-made man and his mother is his favorite person. He might be very strong with the others but he is a small boy in front of his mother”.

The screenplay and dialogue have been written by N K Salil.

The serial is produced by Screen Players.

Tumpa Autowali will air every day at 7.30 pm on Colors Bangla.
