The press conference of two films namely Whirlpool and Me & Michael: Ventriloquism 50 took place at the ongoing 30^th Kolkata International Film Festival.

Gracing the press conference was director Deepthy Nirmala who directed Whirlpool and Jayashri Mukherjee who directed Me & Michael.

Whirlpool is about a woman who gets sucked into an emotional whirlpool. Her life becomes topsy-turvy when she knows that her husband might not be the person she thought he was.

The producer of the film is James Jacob. The music of the film has been composed by Shafeeq Rahuman and Denson Dominic.

The cast of the film consists of Rennee Paterniti (Rose) and Eponine Fynmore Green (Jo).

Speaking at the press conference, the director said “I reside in Australia but I come from a filmy background. My mother used to be an actress and she has acted in many films. Hence the love for films was in my genes. Whenever I get the time, I write. It is in that way that I wrote down this story and directed it”.

Me & Michael is a documentary that narrates the real-life story of ventriloquist Prabir Kumar Das from Kolkata. He has a great bond with his ventriloquism doll Michael.

Speaking at the press conference, the director said “Ventriloquism has been a huge part of many of our childhood. I was amazed at the way the doll could talk to the audience. It was when I grew up that I came to know about it in detail. I did not know about the word ventriloquist when I was a kid. Michael was my childhood friend and now he is 50. This passion for ventriloquism led me to do this film”.

The music of the film has been composed by Pt. Subhajit Majumdar and Pt. Kalyan Majumdar.

The cast of the film consists of Prabir Kumar Das (Ventriloquist).

Whirlpool is an English film of 20 minutes duration. Me & Michael is a Bengali film of 15 minutes duration.
