Viewfinder: A Memoir is a no-holds-barred memoir by one of India’s most beloved actors, Mr. Amol Palekar, that details his time in theatre acting, directing, and producing, his career in Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali cinema, and his work as a film director, many of which won National Awards. It is not just a book for typical bookstore patrons, but also for students of cinema and theatre, as well as scholars, who will discover that the Actor – Director’s life narrative also explains how cinema and theatre evolved from the early 1970s to the present, a period during which television also made significant advances.
“It is an honor for us to welcome Mr Amol Palekar to Starmark for the launch of his book, Viewfinder: A Memoir. We grew up watching his films, like Golmaal, Rajnigandha, Rang Birangi, Chhoti Si Baat, Chitchor, NaramGaram, Khamosh, and Baton Baaton Mein, among others. His characters resembled the common guy or the person next door, with whom people could easily identify. These films are still very refreshing and are excellent for subsequent generations to watch. Over the years, he has given us a range of characters and captured our hearts with his directorial works. Listening to him today was exciting and enlightening,” said Mr. Gautam Jatia, CEO of Starmark.
Published by Wasteland, Viewfinder: A Memoir is priced at Rs 999/-. It is available across Starmark & other leading bookstores and online platforms.
