Vital Advice On Holi For People With Existing Medical Conditions

As we celebrate Holi, it is important to take certain health precautions, especially for individuals with pre-existing medical conditions. People who suffer from respiratory problems such as bronchial asthma, chronic lung disease, or recurrent chest infections should be particularly cautious. Exposure to dust, synthetic colours, and low-quality gulal can trigger breathing difficulties, wheezing, or allergic reactions. Such individuals should avoid crowded spaces where colours are heavily dispersed in the air.
Similarly, those with sensitive skin, skin allergies, or a history of hypersensitivity reactions — including rashes, itching, or irritation caused by chemicals — should refrain from using commercially available synthetic colours. Many of these products contain harmful additives that can aggravate skin conditions.
If participating in celebrations, opt for organic, herbal, or skin-friendly gulal made from natural ingredients. Applying oil or moisturizer to the skin before stepping out can also provide a protective barrier.
For individuals with severe asthma or known allergies, it may be safer to avoid playing with dry colours altogether. Celebrate responsibly and prioritise your health while enjoying the festivities.
