Walkathon 2023- Focus On Eradicating Stigma Around Diabetes
In observance of World Diabetes Day, ILS Hospitals, Howrah hosted Walkathon 2023, a Walk to Drive out Diabetes. Over 500 people enthusiastically attended the event, all of them committed to making progress in the direction of a healthier future.
The Walkathon was flagged off by Debashis Dhar, Group Vice President of Business Development at ILS Hospitals, and Dr Mahua Golder, ILS Hospitals, Howrah.
The walk started from ILS Hospitals, Howrah, and covered areas like Salkia Flyover, Howrah Station Road, and Salkia School Road, before returning to ILS Hospitals.
Every participant carried a digital candle, signifying our shared dedication to eradicating diabetes’s stigma. Furthermore, individuals wore signs that illustrated various aspects of diabetes, intensifying the message of prevention and awareness.
Nowadays, people are more likely to get diabetes from sedentary lifestyles, even if there is no family history of the disease. Serious side effects from this illness might include renal failure, blurred eyesight, and even limb loss. Diabetes risk can be considerably decreased by making healthy lifestyle choices, eating a balanced diet, and exercising frequently.
