Fashion enthusiasts have always been wowed by Rina Dhaka’s creations when they have been displayed during fashion weeks. At Lakmé Fashion Week in collaboration with FDCI, Rina Dhaka showcased a magnificent collection this season that represented fashion of a different kind. Large amounts of “Dark Romanticism” on the ramp dominated Rina’s mood.

The enigmatic beauty of nature and florals, which were mixed with bursts of sparkle and swooping lines, served as the inspiration for the outfits’ bygone aesthetic. The materials’ rich textures revealed skillful surface ornamentation. To draw attention to them, appliqués featured fine line work and wrinkled patterns.

The textiles chosen moved along a tempting route of opulent, silky silks, velvety velvets, and dense laces, presented in rich hues that would be ideal for dawn to twilight elegance. Other materials that enhanced the fashion quotient included gunmetal, crochet, tulle, silk, Lycra, and faux fur.

The prints’ stark narrative was developed using curved lines that created textures or a skeletal appearance. The black in the goth color scheme was contrasted with cherry blossom red, neon yellow, grey, burgundy, and forest green in order to convey an air of carefree decadence. This complemented the collection’s sombré concept.

For rouched, asymmetrical tailored jackets, fitting Basques, long skirts, or flared ones for a flirtier, flouncy look, peplums were introduced in a modern design. An interesting eye-catcher that the party regulars would like was an embroidered small cape.

When Waluscha D’Sousa glided in a black, fitted, paneled, long skirt and tulle choli with sparkling embellishments on the bustier, she was a stunning showstopper. The striking element of the outfit was the long tulle train with little designs at the back.

The Fall ’23 collection from Rina Dhaka was a fantastic fashion offering with strong romantic undertones and an avant-garde design statement.
