Three star-studded performances of the historic “Debi Chaudhurani” will be presented on August 16 and 17 at the Sobhabazar Rajbari Natmondir.

‘Sutanuti Pala Parbon’ announced this during a press conference at the Natmondir.

It was graced by renowned Jatra artist Smt. Kakali Chowdhury, Sri Anal Chakraborty, and Sri Raju Barua, along with Bengali theatre stars Sri Soumitra Mitra and Sri Biswajit Sarkar. Also present were Kolkata Municipal Corporation’s MIC, Sri Debashis Kumar, and the writer and director of the production, Samrat Mukhopadhyay and Prantik Chowdhury, respectively.

The cast, including Nancy, Samrat Biswas, and Sayan Ghosh, also graced the event.

There is a long history of inaugural Jatra performances held in the Natamondir, including the 1961 First Jatra Conference. The goal of this upcoming show is to revitalize the dwindling theater scene in North Kolkata and infuse fresh energy into the historic venue.

The play honors the rich history that preceded the country’s independence and marks the birthday week of Kolkata. Audiences can immerse in the customs and tales that have molded our cultural heritage via the contemporary adaptation and dramatic production of Mahendra Gupta’s Rishi Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay’s classic novel Debi Chaudhurani. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the riveting theatrical representation of our history, which takes place over two days in the afternoon and evening.

Prantik Chowdhury said, “‘Debi Chaudhurani’ represents a dream come true for me. I consider the cast members to be nothing less than idols, and I can’t wait to see how their abilities come together. I do not doubt that this show will leave a lasting impression on the history of theater”.

Tech Hoc Solutions is producing the play with support from Barrackpore Bratyajon, and Bou Rani.

The theatrical performance of ‘Debi Chaudhurani’ on August 16th will be exclusively for an invited audience of esteemed citizens of Kolkata. On August 17th, the production will open its doors to the general public with two showings at 3 pm and 6:30 pm.

A unique and remarkable achievement, this combination of well-known performers from the Jatra and theater worlds promises an amazing experience for everyone in attendance.
