Twin Strings is an Indie boy band/Music Producer that is composed of Sagar, Sahil, Manav, and Mohit Deen. The band recently released their new single Khabar and also performed in Kolkata. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with the band in an exclusive conversation. Excerpts..

Tell us something about the new single Khabar.

Twin Strings-This song ‘Khabar’ is about a situation when 2 best friends/childhood classmates are in love, but are not sure or probably scared about expressing their feelings. Also, it is a message to people out there to not ignore the signs, and just let them out. Then you won’t be in a situation where there will be any regrets in the future.

Is this your first visit to Kolkata? Did you enjoy performing in Kolkata?

Twin Strings- No this is not our first visit. We get a different level of love in Kolkata. We love performing in Kolkata and incidentally our biggest fan base in Kolkata itself. So whenever we are in Kolkata, we always have the best time.

How was the band formed?

Twin Strings- This is a very frequently asked question and there is a very cute story behind this. Sagar and Sahil are twin brothers and we started making music and videos when we are quite young but had no plans to start any kind of band or we did not think we would come into the music industry. But with time, we started producing, and then Mohit, the producer, and engineer for the band came into the scene. He is also our cousin. So, then we started making more music and collaborating with different people like singers & musicians. During this journey we met our Star, we met Manav, from where we created 2-3 covers, which got a huge amount of appreciation from people.

One day we suddenly got a call from a person asking us to perform for him at a function that’s how the band really started and we began touring. It’s been going well for us.

Why is it named Twin Strings?

Twin Strings- So basically, that has to be seen to know. You have recognised between 4 of us, who are the twins and that’s how it became ‘Twin Strings’

You have amassed great popularity due to the beautiful covers that you have produced. What are the things you consider when making covers?

Twin Strings- We think that the best part is, when we are doing covers, we put the same amount of effort and time that we put into making an original. Doing cover will always be close to us and whenever we choose to do a cover of any song, we do not directly copy-paste the song. If you listen to our ‘Lucky Ali Medley’ or other medleys, you will know that work has been put into making it. We even shot for days in a stretch to get videos that the audience will like. And that’s why probably we have been getting such appreciation. We try our very best that put our hearts into creating the songs.

Twin Strings have released 5 originals now. When can the audience expect a new original from your band?

Twin Strings- We are planning to put our next original in the first week of August 2022. And this is going to be a very special song as we wrote this year’s back and it is very different. We cannot reveal the name yet, but August is not very far.

Given the great popularity of your band, has your band been approached for composing music for any films?

Twin Strings- We have been approached, but we are still working on things in that area. We would love to give great music for films and have our fingers crossed that the opportunities coming in soon get to the audiences.

What is next in line for Twin Strings?

Twin Strings- We have a lot of things happening. We have 2 originals planned which will be releasing, one in August and the second soon after. Also, we are working on a grander live set, a better experience for the live audiences. Who has seen us live already will see the difference, even when it comes to the music part. Very soon it will be unleashed and hope people enjoy it.

Covers will also continue as people love our covers. So overall there is a lot of content that we are working on.
