Kuch Kuch Film Jaisi, a web series from Tokyo-based Bengali director Anindgita Dasgupta is about to premiere. The post-production work on the filmmaker’s second project, her first after a 5-year break after the release of her first movie, “Bandh” is presently underway. Despite being a Bengali/Hindi web series (with 40% of the content in Hindi), the name is Hindi and very original. According to the director, since Shahrukh Khan has been her idol since she was a young girl, she was inspired to use the name of his film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. And hence she decided to name her series in a similar way.

This project is also highly unusual in that it contains 14 episodes and lasts for four and a half hours. In fact, even the trailer, which is more than seven minutes, broke records when it debuted on YouTube and had more than 200 million views in the first few days.

The making is more significant than the duration, including the trailer, and such lengthy trailers are also extremely rare, both in terms of content and duration. According to the director, the tale of the series addresses a wide range of themes, including the human mind, sub-consciousness, domination, ego, class distinctions, self-centeredness, selfishness, and others.

According to the director, “The human mind is itself a puzzle and very complex, yet very creative. It is with this creative bent of mind that I have created such a story that people may take time to absorb, but slowly understand once they watch the entire series. They will get a feel of what I wanted to show/convey or portray.”

The cast consists of actors like Prithwejeet Seth( Indian chess player with a FIDE rating), Vikyat Swades, Luv Vispute, Urusha Pande y(Nepali actress), Ankush Tripathy, and others.

The story, screenplay, and camera work are all by the director and the series has been produced by Aam Public Entertainment.

There will be subtitles too so that people of all communities can understand and watch it all anywhere in the world.

The director is already in talks with some OTTs to release the series.
