The late great director Yash Chopra was honored with a commemorative stamp that was unveiled by Bollywood diva Rani Mukerji. This was done at a historic occasion honoring Indian cinema at the Australian Parliament.

Rani Mukerji discussed during her address how she is bringing about a significant Australia-Indian film collaboration—a musical featuring her alongside Hollywood legend Hugh Jackman!

Hugh is a talented artist who has excelled marvelously in song and dance in movies like Les Misérables and The Greatest Showman, among others. Rani thinks her partnership with Hugh would be a fantastic fit for a Hindi movie that also honors music and dance! Australia and India recently signed a co-production agreement for motion pictures.

“I hope the co-production treaty between our countries fosters a similar bond in our films, just as cricket connects us. Now is the ideal moment to share our common tales. If you enjoy our music and dances, you should know that a large number of Australian artists have had a profound influence on us. We adore Baz Luhrman’s films and musicals to the moon and back. Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, who are highly regarded in India, have captured our hearts with their captivating performances and musical prowess. I am truly bringing about a romantic relationship between Nicole Kidman and Shah Rukh Khan, along with a musical including Hugh Jackman and me” said Rani.

“When the lights go down in the theaters, Indian films can take you to a magical place. It has the power to numb reality and envelop you in a frenzy of feelings that will soothe you from within. You can also sing and dance along to something really special and upbeat in our theater. Families and communities have always been pulled together by our films in India, and I see this occurring all over the world” added the actress.

According to Rani, Indian films are now influencing mainstream culture worldwide. According to her, Indian cinema is currently leading the way in influencing mainstream culture and our filmmakers, stories, and talent are genuinely leaving a lasting impression on the world.

“Our films brighten people’s days and spread joy throughout the world. They also make people happy. They are genuinely crossing boundaries, which is evidence of the increasing significance, sway, and acceptance of our film” said the actress.
