“Working With Soumitra Chatterjee Was On My Wishlist and Now It Is Completed”- Anik Dutta at Trailer Launch of Borunbabur Bondhu
The trailer launch of the upcoming Bengali film Borunbabur Bondhu took place in the presence of director Anik Dutta, Soumitra Chatterjee, Madhabi Mukherjee, Ritwick Chakraborty, Arpita Chatterjee, music composer Debojyoti Mishra and others.
Borunbabu is an octogenarian who has isolated himself from the society and even from his family. His wife is ailing and bedridden. His childhood friend Sukumar and his grandson Nemo who is a special child are the only people he can relate to. The other members of his family hardly talk with him unless necessary. However something happens and all of a sudden he becomes important. Everybody wants to please him and get close to him to fulfill their personal wishes. What happens next?
Soumitra Chatterjee plays the role of Borunbabu while the role of Sukumar is played by Paran Bandopadhyay. Madhabi Mukherjee plays the role of Lalita, Borunbabu’s wife. Kaushik Sen and Ritwick Chakraborty will be seen in the roles of Borunbabu’s sons, Siddhartha and Paramartha. Arpita Chatterjee and Bidipta Chakraborty will be seen in the role of Moushumi and Raka, the daughters-in-law of Borunbabu.
The film also stars Barun Chanda, Alokananda Roy, Debolina Dutta, Chandreyee Ghosh and others.
Speaking at the event, Arpita Chatterjee said that it was a great experience shooting the film with the thespian actors like Soumitra Chatterjee and Madhabi Mukherjee. “We may not live in joint families anymore but our base lies in joint families. The story is about such a family which has its strengths and weaknesses. I personally like family films. At least we can see onscreen something which we cannot get in our real lives in present times” said the actress.
The script has been jointly written by Anik Dutta and Utsav Mukherjee.
When asked about the fact that who was Borunbabu, the director refused to answer and said that one will have to watch the film to know the answer. Anik Dutta also mentioned that working with Soumitra Chatterjee was on his wish list and that it was fulfilled with the help of this film.
Suchismita Dasgupta was in charge of designing the costume while Ananda Adhya was the art director.
The film will be releasing soon in theatres soon.
