This year on Zee Bangla, the story of Mahishashur Mardini will be aired on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya like every other year.

However this year, the story will be seen through the eyes of Lokenath and the story will be narrated by Bhagwan Ganguly.

The story adheres to the age old folk tradition of Bengal and its love for Maa Durga that transforms itself into various folk goddesses. Every district in Bengal worships the goddess in a different way. Sometimes, she is the protector of forest in Sundarbans, sometimes she is the sweet daughter of Purulia who needs nothing but love while in some other place she is the blood thirsty scary Devi who calms down when her bhakt doesn’t shy away from her scary avatar.

These avatars of the Mother Goddess have an interesting story of their own, stories that depict the tale of protection, love and nurturing. Through each of these Devis the narration will reach the tale of Mahishashur Mardini and her quintessential saga of establishing purity and joy in the world.

The tale of good winning over evil, the tale of women empowerment, the legend of Devi Durga-all will be celebrated with Shaktiroopeno. The program will be aired on 8th October at 5 am.
